Context & Objective
The creation of the questionnaire was initiated by the desire to improve and structure UX design practices within the agency. Until then, user tests were not systematically structured.
The main objective of the questionnaire is to provide a standardized and comprehensive tool for user testing, while being easily usable by all agency members. Additionally, the tool was meant to help provide concrete data to clients to evaluate the effectiveness of their applications.
Team & Role
Collaborative brainstorming with a colleague on the impact and use of the user questionnaire.
Creation of the questionnaire
Timeline
The project started at the beginning of 2023.
Challenges
One of the main challenges was introducing and getting managers—who were accustomed to a different method—to adopt this new tool. This required training them and a gradual implementation.
Research phase
Inspiration
To develop my questionnaire, I drew from existing models from my course materials and consulted experts to guide me in its creation.
Preliminary Feedback
At that time, my colleagues did not have a standardized model.
Content choices
I focused on context and data reporting rather than specific questions. Even though each question is adapted to each project, it’s the context and the way the data is presented that prevail. My past experience serves as a foundation, but thorough research is essential for each new project.
Flexibility
I designed the questionnaire to be flexible and adaptable. My goal was for it to be intuitive and usable without prior explanation, regardless of the project’s context.
Design and implementation
Design process
At each stage of the questionnaire’s design, I sought validation from every team member. I also took the time to explain my choices, aiming to train my colleagues on the adopted approach.
Collaboration
Although we are a small agency, collaboration was essential. I worked closely with my partner throughout the design process.
Implementation
Thanks to our small size, deploying the questionnaire was swift. We were able to use it immediately on an ongoing project.
Feedbacks & adjustments
Following its use, I made improvements to the questionnaire. I integrated scientific formulas and calculations to enhance its reliability and improve the presentation of results to the client. This work is continually evolving.
Measurement and evaluation
Success criteria
Our ideation sessions began with an in-depth analysis of existing tools, identifying their weaknesses and strengths. We used a tree diagram method to get a clear overview of the project. This visualization helped us structure our ideas and progress systematically. The ideation process unfolded in three steps: sketching on a whiteboard, drawing on paper, and finally designing in Figma.
Quantitative measures
Rather than relying on traditional quantitative measures, I assessed the questionnaire’s success by directly observing users. I paid particular attention to users’ response times and their ability to understand the questions on the first attempt.
User feedback
I received feedback after each use of the questionnaire. This input allowed me to adjust and improve it after every iteration.
Future improvements
I plan to continue enhancing the questionnaire based on scientific advances and user experience to make it increasingly user-friendly.
